1. Focusing on Principal User Services

Basic view on selection

36kb

Principal user services which should be introduced with priority will be set through system trial design and system evaluation, clarifying what the problems are.

Clarifying problems

66kb

The number of deaths by traffic accidents in Japan in 1997 were classified based on the principal user service system.

Proposed Plan for Prior Principal User Service "Safety" (General Roads).

52kb

In the proposed plan for prior principal user service "safety" for general roads, the following six principal user services will be chosen, based on both fatalities and the total value of damages from casualties:

Prevention of collisions with obstacles
Prevention of crossing collisions
Prevention of right turn collisions
Lane keeping (curves)
Prevention of collisions with pedestrians crossing streets
Lane keeping (straight ahead)

Verifying Selected Services

56kb

For the prior principal user services that have been chosen for general and auto only roads, their realization possibility will be verified through accident concentration rate and system trial designs.
With these two processes, we verified the appropriate part of the road and the appropriate service to be applied as an acceptable social system.

Conclusion

44kb

We focused on the principal user services which should be considered with priority in the futurefor "safety".
Cost and benefit (B/C) evaluation was carried out for these principal user services based on theaccident concentration rate and system trial designs, and the road types and road parts that can realize these services as a social system were organized.
However, there is a need to review active cost reductions and the system configuration taking into consideration quick spread of user services with relatively low B/C this time.

Tasks

30kb

In the future, there is a need to examine what services should be introduced with priority for what type of road and at what road part and clarify the specific goals.
To realize these goals, technological developments and system developments, which enhance the capacity of equipment will be carried out, and verification tests as well as performance evaluation will be conducted in the year 2000.
We are also planning to set up various measures for introducing the services and put them to practical application, as well as make proposals for international standardization actively.

2. General Plan for Future Research

AHSRA’s Master Plan <For Implementing Verification Test in 2000>

54kb

System developments and element technologies developments will be carried out together closely according to the scenarios reviewed in the upstream process and requirements. At the same time, appropriate evaluations and development of social environments will also be carried out to contribute to the practical application of AHS as early as possible.
