AHS-i(Information) and AHS-c(Control) make progress in parallel. There are various levels of driving assistance for these two systems, representing stages in the process of continuous evolution.
In contrast, the function of AHS-a(Automated cruise) is totally different from those of other subsystems. While AHS-c, which realizes 99% of automated driving, and AHS-a are similar, they still differ as the latter bears the whole responsibility for vehicle operations while the former doesn't.
From this analysis, we believe that in Japan, we should reflect upon AHS in the course of its evolution, and its functions should be developed in the order of i, c, and a.
Also, international compatibility is important for the development of AHS. For this reason, we in Japan believe that international cooperation is indispensable. |
