AHS can be divided into 3 subsystems according to the specific functions for assisting driving, namely, AHS-i (Information), AHS-c (Control) and AHS-a (Automated cruise). In AHS-i, the system supports a part of the collection of information, and in AHS-c the system supports a part of the driving operation in addition to the information collection. AHS-a carries out 100% of the information collection and driving operation, and even assumes the responsibility for safe driving.
In order to realize AHS-a, it will be necessary to overcome a number of important hurdles not just in terms of technology, but also in relation to the responsibilities it will bear for vehicle operations.
